I am a quadriplegic. I broke my neck (at level C4/5) during a junior high school football game back in 1977 when I was 14 years old. It left me paralyzed from the shoulders down. I operate my computers (both at work and at home) and everything else around my home (TVs, VCRs, speaker phones, etc.) with a mouth stick. I also have an automatic opener on my front door (activated from my wheelchair) so I have the ability to come and go as I please.

He Said He Had A Friend - This is a very powerful poem someone posted (June 8, 1998) on one of the disability related mailing lists I am on. First tears my eyes have shed in a long time.
Emmett The Simple Man - On the disability related mailing lists I am on, I refer to myself as "a simple man". Some people have difficulty hearing (or understanding) my simple honest (and realistic) view on the SCI "cure" issue. But, some people do understand my simple view. Here is a poem one of those individuals wrote that reflects my simple view quite well.
